Fabio Pavanello
Biography
Fabio Pavanello is a CNRS researcher with more than 10 years of experience in integrated photonics. He holds an MSc from Polytechnic of Turin (Italy) and a Ph.D. from University of Lille (France). As a research associate at the University of Colorado Boulder, in collaboration with MIT and Berkeley, he contributed to the first optical link between a processor and a memory chips realized in a "zero change" 45nm CMOS process. He also led the demonstration of the first high-speed optical transceivers in a modified 65nm bulk CMOS platform. As a researcher in Ghent University and IMEC, he contributed to the development of a mid-IR platform for sensing and spectroscopy applications and demonstrated highly broadband integrated spectrometers in SOI technology.
His research interests are in hardware security, neuromorphic computing, and communications. He coordinates the Horizon Europe project NEUROPULS which aims to develop a secure, energy-efficient RISC-V interfaced neuromorphic accelerator using integrated photonics and emerging materials. He has co-authored more than 90 journal and conference papers and has 1 patent granted.
